East London Velo is holding its annual hill climb on 16 October, at 10am, at Essex’s Mott Street. More information is below and you can enter here now – or on the day.

This hillclimb is a ‘come and try it’ club event, open to non club members – a simple hill climb time trial. Entrants will race the fabled Mott Street (a colossal climb by Essex standards), set off at minute intervals. 

Prizes for Fastest three Men, Women, Fastest Juniors (see CTT rules) and fastest Veterans.

Entering the event: 

Riders can either pre-enter the event HERE or pay when they sign on (£4 for pre entry, £5 on the line) 

Sign on from 845 am at High Beach carpark, opposite the King’s Oak pub. 

The event is open to any rider aged 12 years and over. Juniors (aged 12 – 18) must bring a completed consent form to sign on.

Riding my first time trial 

Rules: 

  • Helmets are now MANDATORY at hill climbs. Any riders who arrive at the start line without one will not be allowed to race.
  • Front and rear lights are also MANDATORY.

Getting to the start: 

Riders must approach the startline at Mott Street from Lippets Hill and NOT ride on the course once the race has started. 

Spectators and Riders MUST NOT congregate near the finish line to avoid a bottle neck. This event is NOT held on a closed road. There’s plenty of room further down the course for cheering your fellow competitors on.
